This morning I saw this picture of seedlings that had grown up and now were getting more dirt put around the base of the seedling, strengthening it and helping it to stand and the word I got was that new things had been sown and were now getting established. And because of that they would not be tossed around by the winds so much.
When a seedling is young, the wind and the rain can easily blow destroying the young roots of a new plant but once it has endured and grown a bit, it is not quite so vulnerable to outside conditions effecting it.
As I thought about this and what the Lord was saying I was reminded of the journey of the past while that the Lord has been taking us through personally and also I believe as a body of Christ.
From taking our property right back to foundational work being done, and then the replacing of structures/boundaries and then more recently the new dirt and preparing for new seeds/plantings to go in the ground which have recently gone in and now are being established.
So all this has been happening in the natural but in the spiritual it is the uprooting of foundational mindsets/ ways of doing things/ perhaps even things that were not of righteousness that have been exposed and come to the light, that needed to come out in order for the new to go in.
New mindsets, new ways of doing things, new walking in righteousness and integrity etc.
Some examples that come to mind;
1. People are now rising with a boldness to stand for what they believe in. Which previously I believe I saw people would often be silent in their own thoughts/opinions building offences rather than taking a stand and sharing their opinions.
2. Another we have seen dishonesty, sexual and other such issues being exposed, revealed, and addressed on governmental and leadership levels in all sectors of society. One up rooted with integrity and accountability being the new seed that has been sown in its place.
3. Something else I have seen since Covid and all the other happenings of late in our nation is the transference from individualist thinking to a community spirit.
These are just a few examples I have seen on a ‘national level’ but for each of us on personal levels there are things that the Lord has been revealing, exposing, uprooting and then replacing and replanting with His seed of truth, His seed of Kingdom thinking, His seed of righteousness.
I encourage you to take some time and reflect over the past twelve months at some shifts and changes in thinking in mindsets, in ways of doing things that today you are now walking/talking/doing a new thing that is the new seed that has been planted in the garden of your heart which the Lord is strengthening and growing you to continue to stand in and be fruitful in that perhaps once upon a time you may have been pushed around in and blown in every direction. Now the newer seed is becoming established as a part of who you are and the way you function.
It may be an understanding that you are completely loved by the Lord. It may be an understanding that people have their best for you rather than thinking that people are against you. It may be the knowledge that you walk in the presence of God wherever you go, that there is no separation between you and Christ.
Whatever it is, God has planted new seed in your life and He is establishing it.
I love this from Colossians 2:6-7 from the message version.
“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward. Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master, now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out, quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”
So cool and so straightforward. Quit studying and start living it! We are established and rooted in Him and even if you don’t feel it the truth is, we are. He chose you alongside others and we are a planting of the Lord.
Isaiah 60:21-22 Message Version
“They are the green shoot that I planted,
planted with my own hands to display my glory.
The runt will become a great tribe, the weakling become a strong nation.
I am God,
At the right time I’ll make it happen.”
